Chase & Vicky traveled all the way from Houston to have their photos done at their wedding venue! It was a beautiful quiet afternoon, full of gorgeous light, and I had such a fun time capturing photos and getting to know them better. So excited for their wedding this fall at this exact location!
P.S. Isn’t Vicky’s red dress just drop dead gorgeous?
When Brisa reached out to me about engagement photos, my jaw dropped in excitement. She was one of many people I photographed back in college so I remember fondly of our afternoon session at The University of Texas. Now, with so many years passed, she’s finally getting married! It was absolutely fun planning their session because Brisa and Christian have a lot memories in Austin. We eventually settled on Mozart’s Coffee Roasters because it was where they had their first date, and we wanted to re-create those memories. On the day of, we had an insanely windy and cold day in the middle of spring, but they were such troupers. Brisa has the most infectious and beautiful laughter and smile, and Christian always knew how to bring it out of her. This session is certainly a favorite up to date, and I have the utmost excitement and love for these two. Cheers!
I had an absolute joy photographing Diana and Matt’s engagement. When they reached out about doing their photos in Austin, we wanted to create a session that captured the city’s spirit, and one of the locations we thought of was the 360 Bridge. These two are so playful and quick to laughter, and it was fun to see how much of that reflected in their photos. Can they can be any sweeter?! Afterwards, we headed to a park nearby to wrap up the session before the sunset was gone. This was such a fun way to invite the spring season back. Cheers!
Remember these two cuties? Back in March, I photographed Tim’s proposal to Jessica, and it’s been a journey ever since! I’ve been SO pumped for their engagement session for a long time. Everything about Jess and Tim scream class, but what I love most about them is their heart. They have so much love for each other, but more importantly, their friends and family. When we first got around to planning this session, their first idea was to keep it urban, a setting that really captured the heart of downtown Austin and one that marked the start of their new home. This isn’t a style that I do a lot so it was absolutely exciting to capture their session at one of my favorite locations, Second Street District! I’m obsessed with the pop of colors from the cute cafes and the city street vibe. In a way, I felt like this style was also an ode to Tim’s childhood in New York. All in all, this was such a fun and stylish session. I am already excited for their February wedding next year.
Sigh, another proposal in the books! I have so much love for David and Jenny as they are two of the most genuine, kindhearted people I've ever met. I've had the pleasure of getting to know them these couple of years and being present to witness their lives transition from one season to the next.
Now, before I transition into the photos, I can't help but share my part in all of this because of the hilarity and awkwardness throughout. While photographing a proposal may not be my first rodeo, the inevitable is that I can never predict what will actually happen. For some guys, they'll meet up with me at the proposal site to run through the game plan while they wait for their lady's arrival. For others, it's easier to disguise it as a date by arriving together while I hide myself in the bushes somewhere. (Honestly, 75% of the job is just me hiding and stalking...and being creepy). And that's exactly how we did it for David's proposal.
The tricky thing about the 360 Bridge is that (1) there's hiking involved and (2) it's almost guaranteed to be crowded on a weekend. To add to that, it had also rained so we had to conquer muddy pathways, slippery rocks, and mosquito infestation. Once I established my position behind a bush, I pretended to be an Asian tourist while secretly photographing Jenny and David as they made their way up the overlook. Since it was crowded, David led Jenny into a narrow path towards his spot while I tiptoed behind them, half photographing, half trying to stay on the down-low. At first, it was easy to hide because we were still in a populated area, but since David's spot was deeper in the forest trail, it was becoming harder to stay hidden. At this point, I'm literally stalking them... 10 feet behind. So far so good though. After a few minutes, David finally settled down with Jenny on a ledge while looking out onto the lake. Me? I became a cafeteria for mosquitoes. Just imagine... a cute couple enjoying the view while in the distant background, a crazy woman is jumping around while simultaneously swatting and photographing. Clearly, I was doing a great job at hiding. Just then, David decided to bring Jenny back up to flat ground, where I was standing. Busted! I pretended to be surprised to see them, continuing my tourist facade, but like any woman being proposed to, Jenny's mind clicked, and this is where the photos will tell the rest of the story...
When I first started planning with Chris and Victoria about their engagement session, the two descriptions they gave me were "water" and "nature", and immediately I thought of Bull Creek Park. It was the perfect location to highlight their style of simplicity and capture the tenderness of their affections. All throughout, we had a great time laughing and chasing the sunset up until dusk, and the overall aesthetic was just perfect, especially when the sunset glossed over the water and created such a romantic glow! There's an obvious sweetness between Chris and Victoria, and I absolutely loved watching them as they interacted both during and in-between shots. They seriously make my job so easy, and I am beyond excited to photograph their wedding later this year in December.
P.S. Recognize Victoria from anywhere? She was a bridesmaid at a wedding I photographed last year! Click here to see it.
